Thanos Tagaris is a Senior Machine Learning Engineer based in Athens, Greece. He holds a BSc/MSc in Elecrical and Computer Engineering (University of Patras, 2013) and a PhD in Deep Learning (National Technical University of Athans, 2020). His PhD involved Computer Vision on medical images and Deep Neural Network interpretability.

During this time, he was involved in multiple research projects, most notably CORTEX (a H2020 project for anomaly detection on nuclear reactors). Afterwards he spent 1 year as a post-doctoral researcher, mainly focusing on time series forecasting.

Professionally he has more than 5 years of experience working for various firms, most notably Deeplab/Taboola and Netcompany/EUIPO. Through these he had been involved in various projects (RecSys, CV, NLP) and in various domains (maritime, banner ads, trademarks, banks, etc.).

Additionally, he is a Data Science and Machine Learning instructor for the past 7 years and a Lecturer at a local college, teaching AI/ML courses.
