Benedetto is the Head of Architecture at Janea Systems, where he oversees and contributes to a wide range of projects across both Delivery and R&D.

With over 25 years of experience in both industry and academia, Benedetto began his career with a groundbreaking thesis: porting GCC to the APEmille supercomputer. He then moved to the U.S., where he spent 11 years, first at Microsoft working on its C++ compiler. After that, he joined Expedia as a Principal Engineer, focusing on large-scale distributed systems—both transactional and analytical.

At Janea, he led the Memurai project for two years before stepping into his current role.

Benedetto holds a degree in Mathematics from the University of Rome and moved back to Italy a few years ago. In his free time, he enjoys cooking (especially grilling meat), riding his enduro motorbike, and reading.
