- CLR 2.0 Development: Contributed to version 2.0 of the CLR, with an emphasis on 64-bit architectures, enhancing security, and performance tuning.  
- Managed Code on AMD64: Overcoming complex architectural challenges to implement and refine the execution of managed code on the AMD 64-bit platform.  
- Windows Longhorn Integration: Managed the integration of Windows Longhorn with .NET, creating a daily test suite to ensure seamless operation and codebase integrity.  
- CLR Porting and Maintenance: Played a key role in the CLR's transition to IA64, WOW64, and AMD64, focusing on critical components like the garbage collector and the security system and enhanced cross-platform development processes.  
- OS Collaboration: Partnered with the Windows base team to tailor OS interfaces for 64-bit managed code execution. 
-Development Process Optimization: Designed and upheld a lab check-in management system, streamlining the development workflow for the entire .NET team.

Node.js for Mobile Apps

We developed the Lodging “Price and Availability Engine”, which servers over 300 million requests per day and is key to Expedia’ success. 

- Designed and implemented key C++ components in the large scale data flow that feeds the server caches, including a superb lock-free hashtable that could process 5million products per second (per box). 
- Designed & built the ETL data pipes and cloud processes to collect and analyze corporate brand data. We used Apache Spark, S3, Redshift, DynamoDB, Kafka, Spark Streams and much more. 
- Designed the creation of Spark jobs that could re-process 2 years of data in a couple of hours, running in 450 cloud nodes.

Migrating to Angular

- Responsible for creating and developing the CppSharp project. CppSharp will take a bunch of user-provided C/C++ headers and generate either C++/CLI or C# code that can be compiled into a regular .NET assembly. Using itto develop integration bindings for PS4 and BlackBerry platforms with Xamarin platform.
- Responsible for maintenance and development of Xamarin.Android platform integration with .NET runtimes.
- Responsible for continued class library bug fixing and development, including development of System.IO. compression libraries.

Our involvement with the Query Annotation Service (QAS) project for Bing Geocoding was a significant undertaking aimed at enhancing the search engine's capacity to process user inputs and accurately identify physical locations and entities. This function is vital for search engines, assisting in handling the millions of location-based queries made by users daily.

**Key Areas of Focus:**
- **Automation of User Complaints:** Developed an Azure DevOps pipeline to automate the submission and resolution of user complaints. This automation was pivotal in streamlining the process of addressing geocoding errors and updating databases.
- **Test Dataset Enlargement:** Utilized a PowerShell script to extract malformed queries and geographic entities, significantly reducing the workload for project managers. This script was notably effective, identifying addresses in 71% of closed/resolved geocoding feedback data and matching 82% with valid addresses.
- **Database Updating:** Created a script to upload malformed query reports/data back into the DSAT database. This ensured that the regression framework database, which powers entity identification, had accurate data, thereby reducing errors.
- **Entity Set Resolution (ESR) Geocoding Tool Optimization:** Enhanced the performance and data richness of the ESR Geocoding Tool. This included addressing broken repository initialization, generating more detailed performance data, optimizing local cache generation, and ensuring the runMeasurement script in LocalPerfTest accounted for the current cache.

The overall impact of our work on the QAS project was significant. We streamlined processes, saving time for project managers and ensuring more accurate and reliable geocoding results. This project not only automated but also future-proofed the entire process, enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of the AI powering geographic entity identification."

In partnership with Microsoft Open Technologies, Inc., we embarked on a strategic initiative to create interoperable ecosystems that offer clients even greater choice and opportunity to bridge Microsoft and non-Microsoft technologies. This project enabled core interoperability scenarios between Microsoft and Open Source technologies, spanning developer tools (Azure, Linux, Java, Python), plug-ins, SDK’s to big data, cloud interop & web. This included:

- **HTTP/2.0 Enhancement**: Developed C# and Node.js-based HTTP/2.0 tools for Azure VM to advance web protocol standards.
- **HTML5 to Mobile App Tool**: Created a C# HTML5 conversion tool for mobile app project generation across major IDEs.
- **Contributing to Web Standards**: Prototyped new browser pointer events and DOM enhancements with C++ in Chrome on Windows 8.
- **HTTP/2.0 Control Flow Prototype**: Engineered a C# command-line client for Apache Web server to optimize HTTP/2.0 control flow.
- **Linux Performance Benchmarking**:Optimized Linux for web services, benchmarking SPDY protocols within Azure VM environments.

Project 'Thali' is an open-source, peer-to-peer enabled web framework designed to provide distributed identity, privacy-centric discovery, and built-in synchronization. It supports Cell, WiFi, BLE, Bluetooth, and the iOS Multi-Peer Connectivity Framework. Built on Node for Android and iOS, Thali enables devices to collaborate regardless of the available Internet infrastructure.

Our team innovated Node.js file writing by utilizing memory file mapping, resulting in a significant speed boost in certain scenarios. This method, already implemented in node-tar, can reduce runtime by up to 50%. The efficiency gain from this approach extends beyond npm, benefiting projects like the TypeScript compiler, demonstrating its versatility and impact on performance.

- Porting the Mono .NET runtime to the NuttX RTOS.

Development on Mono project, including the native runtime, JIT (just-in-time) and AOT (ahead-of-time) compilers, and .NET class libraries. Responsible for porting Mono runtime and class libraries to Apple Watch platform, including initial port of the JIT to ARMv7k architecture and LLVM bitcode mode.

We worked on the client components of Microsoft SharePoint, which also shipped with Office XP. We were responsible for the core architecture of the project. The architecture facilitated the integration of SharePoint Portal with the Windows Shell and Office, and supported various servers.

Client Development & Core Architecture 

Supporting the C/C++Compiler for ARM team: 

- Implemented and optimized the ARM Thumb-2 code generation in the C/C++ compiler and micro-architecture optimizations for Qualcomm ARM chips. 
- Implemented the code generation of Pogo for ARM and experimented with Travel Time Debugging for ARM. 
- Proposed and made an ARM specific implementation of basic block reordering in the ARM compiler. 35% working set reduction and 20% page load reduction in IE. 29% code size reduction over 32bit ARM.

Supporting the C/C++Compiler for ARM team

Supported the Javascript runtime “Chakra” team that powers **Microsoft Edge and Node+Chakracore (JS Engine)** Worked on Unicode/Intl library of Chakra engine. Worked on implementation of Javascript language features and with porting “Node. js” to Chakra engine and active contributors and maintainers of the project. Worked on performance improvement of Node+Chakracore. Debugging activities included but not limited to debugging memory leaks, native machine code, performance regression, etc.
