Following Merck and Siemens collaboration announcements in 2020 and 2021, Riffyn's source code was acquired by Siemens in March 2022. Shortly after, Merck partnered with Janea Systems to lead the fusion of Riffyn's innovative platform with Merck's established systems. This synergy aimed to solidify Merck's position at the forefront of Industry 4.0 within the pharma sector. The integration of Riffyn cloud platform's features (such as process design, experiment setup, data capture, design of experiments and data integration engine for real-time analytics) act as an invaluable asset to Merck's work. Even more so with the ongoing arms race for AI dominating the technological landscape.

While React Native successfully served iOS and Android developers, there was a significant gap in the Windows user base. Several mobile platform modules were unavailable on Windows, which hindered the development process, blocking key Microsoft customers and the broader open source community. This project was initiated as a response to the increasing need for a unifying developer experience across various platforms, enabling devs to create Windows desktop applications in React Native. 

Microsoft leveraged Janea Systems' tech-agnostic expertise to port 16 modules to React Native for Windows to increase functional parity with other OSs.
